CODE CRAFT

The project is to create a product that will aid newer drivers by helping them stick to the 2-second rule. It is designed to be universal and affordable, so that drivers can benefit from it without having to splurge a lot of money

UN SUSTAINABILITY DEVELOPMENT GOALS

Empowered and Driven:
Delivering Solutions for Global Issues

The product is a safety product, meaning that it will reduce the likelihood of property damage and bodily harm. This contributes overall towards the wellbeing of humanity, along with ensuring that there is less waste in produced goods, as there will be less incidents and hence less repairing required.

DESIGN STORY

Challenges
``- GPS module is not pining onto location properly - 3d Printing the case might be a bit difficult``
Solution
``- More testing with GPS. Maybe buy a replacement or alternative module - Consult the technicians ``
Use Case
A driving instructor is looking for an easy interactive way to teach students about the 2-second rule. A proposed lesson is to introduce the student to the product, then use it for a few lessons, until the instructor has determined that the student can finally keep a safe, 2 second distance to the car in front, without the help of the tool

THE PROCESS

PROTOTYPE DESIGN

The prototype will consist of a breadboard design showing how the Arduino is able to read distance data from a sensor, along with being able to gauge speed from a GPS module

PLEDGE

Impact on the market

It acts as a cheap but reliable alternative to a sensor/technology that is usually reserved only for higher end vehicles. A lot of newer drivers tend not to have a lot of money to spare, as they are young and have excessive insurance costs. This product should meet their needs

RESULTS

FINAL PRODUCT

The product consists of a few censors and a microcontroller, or microchip in the final iteration. It will first be constructed as a circuit then fit into a case, and tested to ensure function. It will then be permanently soldered together and assembled into the case
