Mediguard is a Smart Medicine box that is designed to make pill adherence for efficient

and easier for people, primarily elderly people and people with chronic conditions. It

had many features, including pill organisation, automated reminders, and allows

people to be more connected with healthcare providers.

Solution

for the first challenge. We have decided to meet up more than that one weekly scheduled session in order to boost productivity For the third problem we had to research other companies that are also making medicine boxes and we found one feature that not a lot of these companies include. The ability to directly connect a client with the healthcare provider. So we decided to add this feature into our product

Our product can be used throughout the medical field. but we are targeting more towards elderly people and people that are unable to maintain their medication usage.

The Smart Medicine Box is a user-friendly, technologically advanced solution designed to improve medication adherence and support effective healthcare management. Recognizing the challenges many patients face—such as complex medication schedules, forgetfulness, limited understanding of instructions, and physical or cognitive impairments—this device offers a seamless way to ensure timely and accurate medication intake. It delivers automated reminders through audio and visual cues, organizes medications into clearly labeled compartments, and tracks doses in real time to alert users and caregivers if a dose is missed. The system also supports remote monitoring, allowing family members or healthcare providers to stay informed and intervene when necessary. By addressing both practical and behavioral barriers to adherence, the Smart Medicine Box empowers users to manage their health with confidence, reduces preventable hospital visits, and contributes to more efficient and cost-effective care.

FINAL PRODUCT

The process of building a Smart Medicine Box begins with identifying the core user needs and translating them into functional features that promote better medication adherence and health monitoring. The device is designed with organized compartments for storing different medications, along with sensors to track usage and detect when supplies are running low—triggering a notification to the user for refills. A microcontroller, such as an Arduino, is programmed to control essential components like LEDs and buzzers, which serve as clear reminders for the user to take their medication on time. To ensure the stability of temperature-sensitive medicines, a small fan is incorporated to regulate the internal climate of the box. The Smart Medicine Box also includes wireless connectivity that links the client to their healthcare provider, enabling real-time updates on medication adherence and allowing providers to intervene when needed. Once the hardware and software are integrated, the system is tested for accuracy, usability, and reliability before final adjustments are made to optimize the user experience.
