About Power CS

Our company, PowerCS, is developing a power bank/portable charger to help users in need of emergency power to be able to access it at any time, no matter the circumstances with the use of solar and crank power generation.

• Durability – Due to the portable nature of the device, as well as the likelihood of it being used at any point in time (including emergency situations like earthquakes and storms), the device would need to be very durable to ensure the device will last. Achieving this is done by ensuring parts and casing are sturdy and of high quality, and resistant to external factors such as water, heat, and impacts.
• Affordability – Making the device affordable will make the device more appealing to consumers, as it will minimize the financial burden on the consumer with the purchase. Achieving this is done through a variety of methods, such as purchasing components wholesale in order to reduce the overall production cost.
• Efficiency – Users will want the device to charge their devices quickly, as well as the device itself to charge quickly through its many ways of charging. Achieving this is done through high power output of the device and high battery capacity.
• Accessibility – Ensuring the device is easy to obtain, use, and understand is crucial for user experience as well as customer satisfaction. This is achieved through the easy-to-understand nature of the product, along with accessibility features such as the traffic light LEDs. Accompanying the product with short pamphlets/guides in a variety of languages is also an idea we would like to incorporate.

1st Person Percpective: I often struggle to keep my phone, camera, and laptop charged while constantly on the move, camping, and visiting new places without reliable access to power. I need a durable, travel-friendly power bank that doesn't rely solely on traditional charging methods. PowerCS solves this with crank and solar charging options, allowing me to generate power anywhere. Its portability and durable design make it ideal for long-term travel where electricity is limited.

THE PROCESS

PROTOTYPE DESIGN

The device features 3 options for charging; Solar Power, Crank rotational energy generation, and USB-C charging. This makes the device incredibly utile in emergency situations such as during or following natural disasters when access to power may be inaccessible by ordinary means. This innovation stands out amongst other power banks on the market, as no other device on the market features all 3 options for power generation. Alongside this, the LEDs on the side of the device will communicate information to the user, such as current power bank charge and quantity of power generation from the solar and crank.

Impact on the market

Currently, the market has no device with all 3 charging methods PowerCS provides, which makes it stand out, especially amongst market leaders. Splitting the functionalities up, the market does have quite a variety of power banks that do offer solar charging, but those featuring crank charging are especially scarce. Collaborating data from Amazon, the average price of a power bank featuring solar charging was around £32.99, but many from market leaders exceeded this significantly.
PowerCS will not only compete in the market, but also exceed against competition in features and options. We aim to sell the product somewhere between £45-£60, aiming for a lower price if possible. However, we believe that consumers may opt to spend slightly more than the cheaper options for a more feature-full product.

RESULTS

FINAL PRODUCT

The initiative commenced with a collective of individuals collaborating towards a shared objective, with each member assigned specific roles and tasks. These responsibilities were segmented into distinct components to enhance efficiency and ensure that all facets of the project were adequately addressed. Each participant concentrated on their assigned segment, enabling them to leverage their unique strengths and expertise.

After the individual elements were finalized, the team reconvened to amalgamate their contributions, integrating the separate components into a unified final product. This collaborative methodology capitalized on a diverse array of skills and viewpoints, resulting in a more robust and comprehensive outcome. The significance of teamwork is paramount, as it underscores how effective coordination and communication within the group facilitated the successful synthesis of various elements into a cohesive whole. Ultimately, this narrative emphasizes the critical roles of both individual contributions and collective collaboration in realizing a common goal.
