Our project is a smart table which moves around on wheels and can help in multiple industries. For example, it can help restaurants and elderly as in a restaurant it can help move dishes around and take it back to the kitchen or it can help deliver things to elderly around the house or in a care home. It can also help in public as it can help deliver things like water to the public in a hot environment. The table will have ultrasonic sensors to make sure it does not crash into anyone or anything to keep it safe. The cable management on the table will also be tidy and the corners will be blunt for safety purposes. The car can move by itself and it can also be controlled by an app once it is connected via Bluetooth.

Challenges

How long the products battery will last, should we have a rechargeable or changeable battery is the product safe to use in busy environments product overheating

Solution

We will try to make the product have a changeable battery so that when one battery is dead, the other can be used and the dead battery can be charged. we will also make sure the product has soft edges to make sure it is safe and does not harm anyone. we will also make sure the product does not overheat.

Use Case

The robot can be used in multiple situations like in a restaurant to carry dishes around or in places like a elderly care home as it can give things to them around the house. It can also be used in public places like city centre in town to give out water on a hot day. The robot can be controlled by an app on the phone or it can move around by itself and safely as it uses ultra sonic sensors to make sure it does not hit anything.

THE PROCESS

PROTOTYPE DESIGN

it is a small car which will has 4 wheels and can be controlled by an app. It can connect to the app via Bluetooth as the app is on android phones only. the car has an Arduino, 4 wheels to allowed movement to left, right and front & back. the prototype also has ultra sonic sensors around it and an Arduino 5 board. The movement will be powered by motors and a battery which is also connected to the car.

Impact on the market

the product should heavily impact the market as it can be used in multiple industries like hospitality, restaurants and even for elderly as it can help move things like dishes around a restaurant or even help deliver things to the elderly around the house. it can also be used to do things like hand water out on a sunny day in the city centre so the product can make a big impact on the market. it also means places like restaurants can have their workers focus on other things or places like care homes will not have to spend money on employees for them to just hand things out instead they can use the robot.

RESULTS

FINAL PRODUCT

We had to get the parts which was the motor, the wheels, arduino, raspberry pi, bluetooth module and ultrasonic sensors. We had to code the car with arduino IDE and using raspberry Pi in order to allow the car to move around with the phone controlled app. we had some problems like the car breaking so we had to put it together again and code the car again too as it had messed up a couple times. so far the car works perfectly fine when being controlled by the phone app.
